MEDiS - INRAE

Annick BERNALIER-DONADILLE is Research Director at INRAe in the MEDIS (Microbiology, Digestive Environment and Health) laboratory. She is microbiologist with main interest in human gut microbiota. Her research work is focused on the functionality of the gut microbial ecosystem, and more specifically on microbial metabolism (fibers, lipids and proteins) and its impact on nutrition and health. The main goal of her research is to identify microbial mechanisms that may be involved in the pathophysiology of functional digestive diseases such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), or some extra-digestive diseases (eg metabolic syndrome, polyarthritis rheumatoid ...). Her work also aims at developing new nutritional or therapeutic strategies to prevent or to treat the disease concerned, by modulating the metabolic activity of the gut microbiota.
