Evelyne FORANO is senior researcher at INRAE, in the MEDIS laboratory. She is a microbiologist interested in the ecology of the microbiota of the ruminant gastrointestinal tract. She has long been involved in studies to better understand the mechanisms involved in the degradation of plant fibres in the rumen. She has also been working on the carriage of enterohaemorrhagic E. coli in ruminants to analyse the physiology of these bacteria in the ruminant gastrointestinal tract in order to find new strategies to fight against these human pathogens. A part of her research has been focussed on the study of mechanisms of action of additives, particularly probiotics, in animal nutrition.
